Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

DC and registering to vote in the Primary Election

From Artee Milligan, candidate for Mayor:

If you are not a registered voter, please register to vote by Monday, August 14, 2006. As long as your registration form is postmarked by Monday, August 14, 2006, you will be able to participate in this very important election.

Beyond the very important issues like affordable housing, schools, and crime, there are some very basic services that the city is not delivering effectively. For example, street and alley sweeping and roads that will not make you spill your morning drink while driving to work in the morning. If we cannot get basic services right, how can we ever tackle the very important issues?

Below are links to obtain the information you need to vote on Tuesday, September 12, 2006. These same forms are on my website.
