Building Better Bus Stops

This is something that I feel quite strongly about. I hate the bus shelters in DC. I wish we had decent designs that were beautiful. One of my favorite bus shelters is the first Helios photo on the Municipal Arts Society "21st Century Streetscape" online exhibit. (This design is similar to the trolley waiting station still on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. I will take a photo of it sometime soon, if they'll let me...)

But in showing someone the Kent State University Urban Design Center website, I came across a publication they submitted to Cleveland's Rapid Transit Authority on "Transit Waiting Environments: An Ideabook for Making Better Bus Stops."

Check it out. There's some nice guidance here.

More later.
