From John Shaw:

The historical hotel at 1830 Wiltberger Street NW began being demolished at 9 am this morning. DC has again failed its citizenry.

Thanks for your help; we just couldn't work fast enough.

Apparently, this building was not landmarked as part of the Howard Theater complex and wasn't landmarked as part of the U Street historic district either. And a raze permit was approved, as part of the redevelopment of the Howard Theater complex.
