Some DC Public Libraries will be open on federal holidays starting in FY2018

At a public meeting earlier in the year, I asked the director of DC Public Libraries, Richard Reyes-Gavilan, "why aren't public libraries open on federal holidays, when school is closed?  Because the need is great."

He said that going forward, the Library System was going to open a limited set of libraries on such holidays, starting the next fiscal year, which started October 1st.  I saw the notice below posted today, at the Mount Pleasant Library.

Maybe the next fiscal year can have some libraries open later on Friday and Saturday in the summer, like what is done in Montgomery County, Maryland.
