The DC chapter of the Working Families Party sent a link to an article on "As virus batters government, US mutual aid groups step up" (Agence France Press) because among others, the article features Anthony Lorenzo Green, the candidate the party endorsed for the DC Ward 7 Councilmember race delivering groceries.
(The endorsement is interesting, because the current Councilmember is former Council Chair and Mayor, Vincent Gray.)
The article quotes Professor Dean Spade, a law professor at Seattle University, who researches and writes about "mutual aid" groups.
His website includes links to articles and other resources, including a recent journal article, "Mutual Aid for Mobilization and Survival" published in Social Text and a syllabus from Duke University Press on "Care in Uncertain Times."
We have a Mutual Aid response in NYC too. My company is helping with it.
