UN Habitat initiative just released a report on creating high quality public spaces

Ironically, given the court ruling in the aforementioned Adams Morgan public plaza matter, that UN-Habitat has released a report on how to create high quality public spaces ("11 Steps to Achieve Quality Public Spaces at a Neighborhood Level: UN-Habitat's Guideline," ArchDaily).

They have created the Public Space Site-Specific Assessment: Guidelines to Achieve Quality Public Spaces at Neighbourhood Level to formalize the process for creating "high quality public spaces."

Although it's not that there aren't other tools that can be used in similar design and implementation processes for creating and improving community spaces

Although, sometimes I think there's too much focus on creating approaches and not enough time doing.  So you can see the value of tactical urbanism, which focuses on doing.
