Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

I'd like to do this, but it competes with Walking Town DC... and the Metro behind the scenes tour with Dan Tangherlini. In any case, it's good to do stuff like this, talk with people, and get a real qualitative sense for how people think about transit. Plus you can buy some fresh produce...

Saturday morning, April 29 (RSVP for details)

[Washington, DC] Meet at plaza near Eastern Market Metro on Saturday, April 29 (mid morning - please RSVP for exact time) for an easy bike tour that will explore transportation, urban design, and other environmental issues on both sides of Anacostia River between Benning Road and 11th Street.
