Man views streetscape construction, Monterey Street, Gilroy, June 24, 2006

Click through the photo and read the comments. I have a long one myself. While I think that the difficulties posed by the construction are tough on stores, the long term results are worth it, at least they have been for 8th Street SE in Washington, DC.

But one way to deal with the economic costs imposed on store proprietors is to provide, somehow, rent reductions during the construction period.
