More wisdom from Lucy Kellaway

Among her activities, Lucy is the "Business Life" columnist of the Financial Times. Her Monday column "reviews" the book Change the World 9 to 5, which offers "50 ways of making the world a happier place from the comfort of your cubicle."

She's not too impressed with the suggestions and writes:

The rest of the tips are about changing our behavior at work to make everyone happier. They make less guilty reading, not because I do them, but becasue they are so feeble. If they change the world at all, it would be for the worse. Take this one: 'Don't be an ideas killer.' This is unintelligent. Some ideas are good and should be encouraged. Some are stupid and should not be.

I have this feeling a lot...
