From Chris Carney, Sierra Club:
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is proposing to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to replace the replace the 11th Street Bridges. Last week, was the end of the official comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, but it’s not too late to make your voice heard. The proposed project would destroy up to 12 acres of parkland and the Anacostia Community Boathouse, and add thousands of cars and trucks to neighborhood streets each day. Read Sierra Club’s full comments on the proposal on our website.
ACT: Contact Michelle Pourciau, acting Director for DDOT and John Deatrick, Deputy Director/Chief Engineer. Tell them you want our scarce resources directed to regional and local transportation solutions that increase access, reduce traffic growth, improve alternatives to driving alone, improve air quality, and protect adjacent neighborhoods and parkland.
