Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Speaking of the Rockville Library

Reading last week's issue of the Gazette (a small benefit from going to College Park at least once/week), I saw an ad for "Architecture Week," sponsored by the AIA Potomac Valley Chapter.

It lists a tour of the aforementioned not quite open "New Rockville Library in the new Town Center" at 4:30 pm on Friday. Reservations are required.

I don't know if I'll manage to get up there but I will try.
