Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Pedestrian "danger" sign, Stuttgart

(Photo from Wikipedia). Will Fleishell translates:

It is a regional government informational sign that warns people that this is a dangerous crossing and says that an accident happened here on October 2, 2006. "Look out for your safety" and under that is a slogan something like "We are always gladly here for your pleasure" and then the state coat of arms and the government designation- Baden Wurttemberg.
