I want to write to you about an exciting event. As you may remember, for over three years now, a group of NE neighbors has been working on starting up the first food cooperative in the District - one based on giving the community fresh, organic foods and local ownership. See our website for more information.

Our market study has affirmed the economic viability and potential of our project. We are looking for real estate and community support is growing. We have an information meeting-fundraiser next week. It would be great to see you there!

A cooperative is a business structure where the customers are owners, thus allowing for control and profits to remain within the community. The H Street Community Market aims to provide the community with fresh, locally grown, organic food at affordable prices. If you won't be able to attend the February 3rd fundraiser but want to show your support by purchasing raffle tickets, they are $5 each and you can send your check to (Emily Raynor 136 R st. NE 20002) by January 28th. There are some great prizes to be had. See below in the event details for the current raffle items.

If you do want to attend the event you can sign-up on our website via paypal (the paypal buttons are on the home page just under the event announcement) or you can send a check directly to Emily Raynor 136 R st. NE 20002. Once we receive payment we will send your tickets in the mail but will also have a list at the door if you forget your tickets.
