Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Rendering, possible retail storefronts, 600 H Street NE (south side)

This isn't so bad, although it's not required, just possible. (This comes out of the work done by a group of H Street residents and stakeholders over the past few months, spearheaded by Drew Ronneberg, chair of the ANC6A Economic Development and Zoning Committee, Hillary Axam of the 6th and H area neighbors, and Monte Edwards of the Stanton Park Neighborhood Association).
