Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

DC Historic Districts Coalition Meeting

From Nancy Metzger, Coordinator, Historic Districts Coalition

Speaker: Harriet Tregoning, Director, Office of Planning,
Takes a Look at Historic Preservation

Monday, April 16, 6:30 pm
National Trust for Historic Preservation
1785 Massachusetts Avenue, NW

* Refreshments and informal social time starts at 6:00. Please bring something to share.
* Metro stop -- Dupont Circle on the Red Line. Building is handicapped accessible.
* Parking restrictions are lifted at 6:30.

* This will be a great opportunity for neighborhood organizations to meet the new
Office of Planning Director and bring up issues affecting historic preservation in your community.

* Also at this meeting the Historic Preservation Office would like to distribute copies of a
National Trust publication What Every Board Member Needs to Know to Coalition neighborhood organizations. Another good reason to make sure that there's at least one member from your organization who attends this meeting.
