Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Charrette in Takoma Park, MD to improve New Hampshire Avenue

New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park, MD
A colleague let me know that he is coordinating a charrette project in Takoma Park, Maryland next week, focused on improving New Hampshire Avenue from the border with DC at Eastern Avenue, to past East-West Highway. (The E-W Highway-New Hampshire Avenue area intersection is particularly gross...)

Check out the website, "Shape New Hampshire Avenue's Future."

I am gonna try to attend at least one of the sessions, but it's really hard now for me to get out and about.
