Letting Children Loose

Boy on Streetcar
Washington streetcar, April 1943. Bubley, Esther, photographer. OWI-FSA photo, LC.

See "Why I Let My 9-Year-Old Ride the Subway Alone," from the New York Sun. Richard Louv's work finds that today's children have 1/9 the "span of control" that they were given in the 1970s.
