Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Someone ought to file a false advertising complaint against General Motors about 230 mpg claims for the Chevy Volt

-- FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection - Division of Advertising

See ""Shocking" Conclusions About the Chevy Volt's Reported 230 MPG" from The Daily Green.

The idea is that most trips are under the 40 mile range of the electric batteries, so that the car would travel a total of 230 miles using a combination of electricity and one gallon of gas.

It's still misleading if not misrepresentation. Even if the cost of the electricity is cheaper than it would be to buy the equivalent amount of gasoline to travel the same distance.
