Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Another example of why gun control should be considered and that pro-gun organizations have unhealthy control over national policy

See the Associated Press story, "18 children among 27 dead in Conn. school shooting

The NRA has clearly won. We're all supposed to be patriotic Americans and just suck it up that this is the cost of "liberty" and our freedoms. We must be armed to the hilt in order to defend against a tyrannical government. Meanwhile we tolerate domestic terrorism on a daily basis. You see where this is going. NRA: arm the teachers! then eventually a teacher will lose it and off his/her classroom, so the logical solution to that, NRA: arm the kindergartners!

It will only get worse. Now what with all the "stand your ground" legislation, people will just blow the brains out of anybody who looks at them funny, claiming they felt threatened or intimidated. It will never end.

BTW: 20 1st graders = "tremendous waste of resources"
