The Getting to Know Europe project Transit invites you to enjoy a lively discussion, between HafenCity project experts, IBA Hamburg representatives and Baltimore City development leaders about improving Baltimore City’s Howard Street corridor.

The discussion will be held on Tuesday, September 17 from 9am to 12:30pm at the Zion Church of the City of Baltimore, located at 400 E. Lexington Street, Baltimore MD 21202.

Panelists include: Jurgen Bruns-Berentelg, CEO HafenCity Hamburg GmbH; Uli Hellweg, Managing Director IBA Hamburg GmbH; Wendy Blair, Principal, W.L. Blair Development; Charles B. Duff, President, Jubilee Baltimore and Executive Director, Midtown Development, Inc; Brenda McKenzie, President and CEO – Baltimore Development Corporation; Thomas J. Stosur, Director - Baltimore City Department of Planning; Jamie Kendrick, Deputy Executive Director Office of Transit Development and Delivery, Maryland Transit Administration; Michael Stanton, Professor – University of Maryland, School of Architecture and Planning and Dominic Wiker, Principal - Development Solutions LLC. The discussion will be moderated by Nan Rohrer, Vice President, Economic Development and Planning – Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.

 

This event is part of TRANSIT, an initiative of the Washington, D.C. cluster of the European Union National Institutes for Culture and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, supported by a grant from the EU delegation in the US and ArtPlace America, a collaboration of leading national and regional foundations which accelerates creative placemaking across the US.

2.  This panel on Howard Street is preceded by an exhibit on Hamburg, Germany at the University of Maryland School of Architecture in College Park, "Exhibition Opening: “Building the City Anew- Hamburg, Germany: Vibrant, Livable, Sustainable; A Journey into the City of Tomorrow”." 

The exhibition opens Monday September 16th.
