Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Coming soon to a neighborhood near you?

Redd Omaha.jpgOmaha, Nebraska. Photo from Red Omaha. How soon are we going to see some monstrosity like this in neighborhoods like Brookland?

Red Omaha is a blog about development in Omaha, Nebraska, and is worth checking out for its different perspective.

Red's "mission statement":

I am a home designer with 15 years of experience with builders and the industry. I believe this helps to qualify my approach and offers some credibility.

I am spending extra time looking at Omaha from a architecture perspective. Reporting and reviewing the good, bad and ugly. Since starting this blog in July, I have stayed on task and am already starting on projects for the future. One is reviewing Omaha Builders. Reviews will include a general overview of price ranges, job site visits and photos of homes in-process. These visits will point out problem areas, framing quality, and whether what is being delivered in the field jibes with the advertising

________
Sounds good to me.

I will be adding a link to Red's Omaha blog in the first set of links in the right sidebar. Note that I add links throughout each week.
