Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Karaoke, Adams-Morgan Day. September 11th, 2005

Karaoke, Adams-Morgan Day

People watching Karaoke at Roxanne's... this Adams-Morgan Day struck me as being one of the more interesting iterations. A good mix of booths, particularly of the nonprofits. The Dance area was pretty interesting. The music good (although my tastes tend to the type of music featured at Mt. Pleasant Day--rock en espanol, alternative), and a diverse crowd. I liked the art booths, but missed the participation in years past of students from the Corcoran. They produced an attractive program and nice tee shirts as well.

Congratulations to Corinna Moebius, the festival coordinator and to all who worked to make it a successful event.
