Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Busy

Am working on a rush journal article so haven't been able to pontificate today (except on email lists). While doing some research came across this interesting architecture blog from the Greensboro News-Record, and a link to a site about the Greensboro Sit-ins in 1960. (There is a great book about stories of people involved in the fight for civil rights in the early 1960s South entitled They should have served that cup of coffee.)

An amazing photography website by a University of New Orleans Professor, Alexei Sergeev.

Remember that entry I wrote about the grafitti journal, Beautiful Decay?
