Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

DC Comprehensive Plan Revision Process--Final Public Meetings

L'Enfant Plan, Washington, DCL'Enfant Plan for the City of Washington, District of Columbia, 1791.

From the Office of Planning:

The working draft of the revised Comprehensive Plan is now available and will be presented for review and comment at eight public meetings, beginning tonight.

The presentations will provide an overview of proposed revisions to the Comp Plan, and changes to the city's official Land Use Map. While there have been many opportunities for input over the past 18 months, these presentations will be the first time to hear about the Draft document itself.

Other opportunities to weigh in are planned-including a Mayor's hearing--but the upcoming presentations are your best chance to ask questions and be heard.

All presentations are from 6 - 8:30 p.m.
