Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Alex Padro, Kathy Smith, me, and Priscilla Smith

Alex and Kathy did a presentation. I missed Kathy's portion (although I am sure it was excellent, given how a presentation-tour of hers about 2 years ago has had a tremendous tremendous impact on how I think about cultural heritage, tourism, and commercial district revitalization -- it's reflected in this entry, "Town-City branding or "We are all destination managers now".

Alex did a very nice job.
