Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

From the MARCVRE yahoogroup e-list (from last week):

According to Jim Knighton of the MTA, the next meeting of the MARC
Riders Advisory Council will be on Thursday, September 7, 2006, at
4:30 p.m., in Room 233 of the Hall of the States Building, 444 North
Capitol Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.

The meeting is an open meeting. (I don't think I can make it, but if someone can, and send me notes, it'd be appreciated.)
