Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

"Direct" marketing about safely crossing train tracks

The New York region's MTA has released a video about railroad crossings and safety. It's pretty graphic, indirectly showing the death of someone who "didn't look both ways."

There is more about this video and the campaign in this article, "New York MTA Hopes Graphic Video Boosts Safety and Cut Deaths" from the New York Daily News.

I am a big fan of being direct in marketing.
