Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Guide to Lynx Light Rail line in Charlotte

The Charlotte Observer has published a nice guide to the neighborhoods around the stations on the new Lynx light rail line in Charlotte. Obviously, it's not for people who live in the neighborhoods now, but for people needing an introduction to places that are new to them.

I like how it lists "reasons to go now," other assets, and "what's coming" along with quotes from business proprietors and residents for the neighborhood around each station.
