Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Expanding access to the UMD buses

Unbeknownst to me, expanding access to the UMD bus system is being considered, if only for College Park residents. See "UMD shuttle bill proposed by council" from the Gazette. I didn't realize it was such a big deal, requiring special legislation by the State of Maryland. (Of course, why should I be surprised.)

Although I think the focus on College Park residents only is too limited. How about to PG County residents?
