Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Rural grocery store conference

I think the issue is more direct: understored areas, capital formation, and maintaining access to grocers in declining areas. The Kansas State University Center for Engagement and Community Development is sponsoring a workshop on rural grocery store improvement. I think it would be useful whether or not you're in a rural area.

Click here for information on the Rural Grocery Store Summit. And here for Resources for Grocers.

I know I'll be keeping track.
