Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Bring casinos to Takoma Park?

I had been thinking that it would be intelligent and machiavellian for the Maryland slots proposals to locate casinos immediately abutting DC, say in Bethesda or Silver Spring, and in Prince George's County, say at National Harbor, when a group of funsters marched in the Takoma Park 4th of July Parade as the "Sherman Avenue Economic Development Authority," pilloring the idea of legalized gambling in Maryland with a similar idea.
