Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Say nice things about your city, shot from "EZ Streets"

EZ Streets was an unsuccessful television program on CBS in 1996/1997. It was about the intersection of crime, government, and corruption, set in a city that was probably supposed to be in upstate New York, a combination of a place like Newark, NJ and Buffalo, NY. Great film noir for TV, better than Hill Street Blues I thought. Alas, it didn't make it. It should have been an HBO type program. This is a shot from the second episode, looking through a school playground.
