photographer unknown. On the e-list where this photo appeared, someone asked why we like photos of snow and streetcars more than buses? I do too, and think it's partly nostalgia. BeyondDC argues often in favor of new streetcars rather than historic replica streetcars, because he opines that people don't take streetcars seriously when they look "cute." That's an overstatement of his position a bit, and until I rode the New Orleans streetcars, I disagreed with him. The fact is that they are uncomfortable as hell and I'd rather ride a new Inekon streetcar than an old traditional New Orleans streetcar. I haven't ridden the Canal Street cars, which are different, having been recently manufactured, and I expect that the quality of the ride of those cars is much better.
