Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Downtown Holiday Market

Downtown Holiday Market

Don't forget to check out the Downtown Holiday Market, on F Street NW between 7th and 9th Streets in the Gallery Place area. This is the third year at this location (first it was in the dismal location of the parking lot on the old convention center site) and it really works:

- things to do, see, and buy
- stuff to eat
- music

(Although this year, they haven't been favored by the weather as they were the first year in this location.)
