Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Lockers for commuters at the Indy Bike Hub/YMCA facility in Indianapolis, the mayor has locker #1

The Indy Bike Hub is a "bike station" facility in Downtown Indianapolis. It's part of the Downtown YMCA fitness facility (no pool) so it has exercise facilities and showers and locker rooms.

Apparently the Mayor was insistent that lockers big enough to store a week's worth of work clothes had to be installed as part of the program.

He has locker #1.

What a statement that makes about the Mayor's (and therefore the city's) commitment to biking as sustainable transportation.
