Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Corner carry out in the basement of a rowhouse, Museum District, Richmond

This block of rowhouses on Kensington Avenue is about one block from the Virginia Historical Society museum, which in turn is next to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.  Both are on Boulevard Avenue.

Apparently, Chiocca's Deli, in the basement of the corner rowhouse, but with an address on the side street at 425 N. Belmont Street, is one of the best sandwich shops in Richmond.
