ISA is a great resource. Yes they represent their industry, but they are pretty open about it and recognize the roles and challenges of planners. Anyone in the drudgery of local planning who has to deal with signs and codes should definitely learn what they can help with. Even if you don't deal with sign regulations, they have free opportunities for AICP credits, and they're a good way to get up to speed on changing tech, case studies, legal issues, 1st amendment, yadda yadda. Recommend.
