Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Gotta good policy idea? How does $100,000 sound?

From another list:

Here's an interesting web site that SEIU put up. People can submit policy ideas and winners will be chosen. One winner gets $100k and two others get $50k, I think. It is fun just to hit the "show me a random idea" button to see what people are thinking. There are ideas from election reform and minimum wage hikes to building a wall along the Mexican border and adding more nutrients to drinking water. Deadline for ideas is Monday Dec. 5th. _
