Saving the Source Theater

Stop, Blog and Roll has an entry about the Source Theater and the proposed sale (there's a contract in) to Bedrock Entertainment, designed to convert the theater into an automobile- themed bar.
"Happy Days" theme song by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox. "Sunday, Monday, Happy Days.Tuesday, Wednesday, Happy Days.Thursday, Friday, Happy Days. The weekend comes, My cycle hums, Ready to race to you..."
Bedrock is known for their pool halls, although the Buffalo Billiards in Austin, Texas is an entertainment venue. She writes that tonight she'll be:
attending the ANC-1B meeting, 7 pm at the True Reformer Building, 1200 U Street, NW to support Washington Improv Theater (WIT) and those in the community who want to see the facility remain a viable theater for the DC arts community. Mark Chalfant, WIT's Artisitc Director, wrote a wonderful letter and sent it to all concerned parties - the list is far too long to repeat here. The letter, however, sums up why DC - not just the Ward 1 community - must come together to save the theater.
This debacle has been written about in the Post, "Debt-Ridden Source Theatre Closes, Plans to Sell Building." DCist and the City Paper also wrote about it. I think I might have myself...
I know that behind the scenes, DC Government is trying to get the purchaser to agree to back out of the deal, to preserve the theater space as a theater space.
"In the pool halls, the hustlers and the losers I used to watch 'em through the glass Well I'd stand outside at closing time..." Mainstreet lyrics by Bob Seger. Buffalo Billiards photo from the DLA law firm website.
