Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Traffic, It's Good For You

is an entry on Curbed, the great real estate-neighborhoods-city blog of and about New York City. This particular entry is interesting because of the comments, of which there are more than 30. My blog doesn't generate much in the way of commenting, although the commenters are always great. I find the Curbed thread interesting in that the commenters can be vituperative and vulgar. I can't say I'd like to see that in my blog. An increase in middling comments (one of my complaints about the biggest blog in DC in terms of hits is that at least half the comments are lame) or vulgarity wouldn't be worth it I don't think.
