Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

might be a way to think about adding capacity to transit and it might add a bit of glamor or interest, and comfortability. Although a counter comment, such as vis-a-vis historic streetcars (and replicas), would be that it could give the impression that transit is "cute" and for tourists and not really practical.

Buses like this, because of film and television images of London broadcast round the world, are understood to be buses "but" fun.

I wonder if this is the kind of bus model that should be used for circulator like systems such as DC's Downtown Circulator or the "Blue" bus in Georgetown, the Georgetown Connector?
