Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Ideas for the Florida Market

1. A kitchen-based business incubator, like La Cocina in San Francisco (which operates like a similar facility in Athens, Ohio). See this article from last Saturday's New York Times, "For Women, a Recipe to Create a Successful Business."

2. "Meal assembly centers." See "Cooking, Henry Ford-style." from the Financial Times.

And don't forget tomorrow's tour of the Florida Market....
