Why we need great placemaking advocacy groups in DC...
because they seed leadership and then some of those people work for government... I was reading this entry, "City Launches “Public Plaza Initiative” at DUMBO Pocket Park," on Streetsblog and noticed that Andy Wiley-Schwartz is mentioned as a NYC DOT Assistant Commissioner. Until just recently (I know I talked to him in March at PPS's offices...) he worked for Project for Public Spaces.
(Of course it doesn't always work out, i.e., when the person in charge of State and Local initiatives for the National Trust for Historic Preservation moved to be the State Historic Preservation Officer for DC.)
I just don't have the time (without the seed money) to get the Citizens Planning Coalition moving.
