Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Social and Cultural Event of the weekend

Morgan writes:

So Mount Pleasant Main Street is beginning to show FREE movies in Lamont Park this weekend:

Independent America is a film about the journey and celebration of locally owned businesses across the United States.

Lamont Street Park (corner Park and Mt. Pleasant Streets)
Saturday, September 8th
6:30pm

-------------------
On their road trip, the filmmakers only shop at independent businesses and they don't drive (of course, they drive) on Interstate freeways.
