Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

St. Paul Farmer's Market, Saturday, Lowertown

They didn't have a lot of prepared foods, or value added products, unlike say the Portland Saturday Farmers Market on the grounds of Portland State U., or the Union Square Greenmarket in Manhattan, but I would have to say this is one of the better farmer's markets I've attended. The foods were better displayed than most markets. A great variety, many ethnic vendors (mostly Asian), a great variety of items, ranging from buffalo meat to popcorn using corn from Minnesota.
