Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

More streetcars

there is an article about a potential streetcar in Atlanta. See "First stop for Peachtree trolleys: Tax debate, Public meetings start Jan. 8 to discuss proposal for downtown and Midtown tracks" from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. I mention this because this is the kind of linkage that needs to be demanded regarding large scale developments in places like the Armed Forces Retirement Home and the McMillan Reservoir, or East of the River.
