Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Florida Market Tour, Saturday 2/23/2008

We had about 40 people on the tour, which is the best ever in terms of blog only + occasional listserv mentions. (About 80 people came to the tour during Walking Town last April, which will be reprised April 26th.

We had a great group of interesting people with interesting conversations, etc. When it's warmer it's possible to buy sandwiches at Litteri's at go over and lunch on the lawn at Galaudet. (I won't be able to do that in April though, as I have another tour, of alleys in SE DC, in the afternoon.) Not sure if we'll be able to do a March tour. But we will produce a new map, with tips on how to buy, and when it's ready, it will be listed in the blog, among other places.
