Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

web resources

There is just so much out there, so much that I think of the resources listed in the right sidebar as a bare scratch (but a big scratch, there are more than 1,000 resources listed, I don't even know the number anymore).

A couple I came across today are the Illegal Signs advocacy initiative in Toronto, and the great photo website for Toronto, Top Left Pixel, which functions like Portland Ground, with a daily great photo.

I'll add these, plus the Somerville Transit Equity Partnership...
