Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Gondola transit for Baltimore

Gondola transit for Baltimore
"This is going to be the best new attraction in the country," Trey Winstead says of his proposed Inner Harbor gondola system. (Sun photo by Algerina Perna / March 11, 2008)

I mentioned this a couple years ago, somewhat derisively. Now, my reaction is whatever. See the Baltimore Sun article, "Baltimore to hear plan for ski-lift style gondola service" and "Gondola proposal draws questions from panel."

And then think about the Aerial Tram in Portland.
