Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space

"A community’s physical form, rather than its land uses, is its most intrinsic and enduring characteristic." [Katz, EPA] This blog focuses on place and placemaking and all that makes it work--historic preservation, urban design, transportation, asset-based community development, arts & cultural development, commercial district revitalization, tourism & destination development, and quality of life advocacy--along with doses of civic engagement and good governance watchdogging.

Pizza is cooking

Pizza is cooking

Running into a friend coming out of Litteris (at Florida Market) a couple weeks ago, we were inspired to buy a couple blobs of pizza dough, sauce and cheese, as well as a pizza pan on the next block at Best Restaurant Equipment.

This pizza has a little bit of the cheese left from Litteris, but with cheese and vegetables from Pan Am International Market (a "Hispanic" grocery store that has branches on 14th St., on Michigan Ave., and one in Maryland).

Pizza preparation, without cheese

Adding cheese..

It's cheaper, more fun, but does take a little longer than calling for delivery.
